Restoration Fees & Estimates

Our restoration fees are based strictly on the time and labor required for treatment, determined by the extent of the damage and complexity of the procedures.

We accept commissions from clients worldwide. For a preliminary and free estimate, we invite customers to email detailed photos and dimensions of the damaged item along with a brief description.

We do not charge for standard formal estimates. The only exception is for insurance-related quotations where our studio is required to provide formal documentation directly to the insurer.

The Restoration Process & Payment

Fees and deposits will be determined and formally agreed upon prior to the onset of any repair.

  1. Assessment: Upon safe arrival at our studio, we will professionally evaluate the damage and contact you within 24 hours with our finalized treatment plan and itemized estimate.
  2. Deposit: Upon your acceptance of the estimate, a 50% deposit is required to commence the restoration work.
  3. Completion & Final Payment: The remaining balance, plus return shipping and handling costs, is due upon the job’s completion. You will be notified at that time via phone or email.

Shipping & Packaging Recommendations

We strongly recommend engaging a professional packing and shipping service for valuable or fragile artworks.

However, if you choose to pack and ship the item yourself, please follow these essential guidelines to ensure safe transit:

  • Internal Wrapping: Wrap the item in tissue paper, followed by several layers of high-quality bubble wrap. Avoid the use of excessive tape which may hinder unwrapping and could cause additional damage.
  • Fragments: Large pieces should be individually wrapped, and any small fragments should be placed in a sealed zip-lock bag and labeled.
  • Double-Boxing (Recommended): Place the wrapped item in a sturdy inner box filled with packing peanuts or similar cushioning material. Place that inner box inside a larger, second box with more packing material. Double-boxing helps insure your item’s safe arrival.
  • Administrative Details: Be sure to include your name, address, and daytime phone number inside the box. (We store all original professional packaging materials for your item’s return trip.)
